Summary
I am a biostatistician working towards aligning novel statistical theory with practical application in clinical trials. My path from applied mathematics to biostatistics has followed problems that sit where theory, computation, and operational constraints meet, and my time at a clinical research organisation, from intern to lead statistician on regulatory bioequivalence submissions, showed me how often a theoretically optimal design founders on delayed outcomes, randomisation systems, or recruitment realities. I care most about trials in resource-constrained settings, where efficiency gains matter most. From October 2026 I am a PhD student in Biostatistics at the University of Cambridge’s MRC Biostatistics Unit. I work precisely and directly, build tools that remove friction for the people around me, and enjoy explaining hard ideas clearly, a habit from teaching mathematics.

- Research: Operationally Feasible Multi-Arm Bandit Response-Adaptive Designs for Clinical Trials, supervised by Professor Sofia Villar at the MRC Biostatistics Unit.
- Aims to bridge optimal response-adaptive allocation theory and the operational realities of clinical trials: identifying where multi-armed bandit algorithms break down under constraints such as delayed or missing outcomes, and developing modifications that preserve statistical validity and practical feasibility.
- Funded by an MRC Trials Methodology Research Partnership (TMRP) Doctoral Training Partnership studentship.

Bayesian inference of interval-censored data with an application to HIV population surveys: A simulation study and application to an HIV population survey comparing Hamiltonian Monte Carlo and Metropolis–Hastings sampling algorithms Stellenbosch University · Cape Town, South Africa
- Conducted a Master’s thesis on Bayesian inference for interval-censored HIV seroconversion data using a log-logistic accelerated failure-time model.
- Designed and implemented a large-scale simulation study (5,400 datasets) to compare Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (Stan) with Metropolis–Hastings (JAGS) under complex survey weighting.
- Demonstrated that HMC delivers identical inference with 30–90× higher sampling efficiency and substantially faster convergence.
- Applied the weighted Bayesian model to the ZIMPHIA 2020 HIV population survey to estimate seroconversion dynamics and covariate effects under informative sampling.
- Developed expertise in Bayesian modelling, survival analysis, complex survey methods, HMC/NUTS, MCMC diagnostics, Stan, JAGS, and advanced R programming.
