What this site is for and what I plan to write about.
This site started life as the home of my consulting practice. It is now my personal site: an online CV, this blog, and the consulting pages, which stay for researchers who need statistical help.
I’m a biostatistician. From October 2026 I’m a PhD student at the MRC Biostatistics Unit in Cambridge, working on response-adaptive designs for clinical trials. Before that I spent a little over a year at a clinical research organisation in Pretoria, where I went from intern to lead statistician on regulatory bioequivalence submissions.
Here is what I expect to write about:
- R and AI. Ways in which coding agents can be used responsibly to assist with statistical programming, as well as general R tips and tricks.
- Biostatistics and Clinical trials. Adaptive designs, the gap between what is optimal on paper and what runs in practice, and what I learn along the way in the PhD.
- General essays on what interests me. Topics such as aviation, geopolitical history, or whatever else has my attention.
